| Studio Wife is based in London. So far, we have specialised in narrative–driven rhythm games as this subgenre combines our love of music and strong stories, as well as providing space to experiment with innovative mechanics and have a lot of fun! The three of us participating in Tranzfuser this year have backgrounds in diverse fields such as music and the social sciences, as well as in games. After studying Masters degrees in VR, Game Design, and Japanese Studies, we have brought together our wide range of skills and perspectives to create a VR game that is both original and accessible to a wide audience. |
About the project
“(We Are All) Stars in the Galaxy” is a narrative-driven VR rhythm game about being a pop idol in space. A rhythm game mechanic inspired by the likes of “Maestro” and “Beat Saber” combines with an intriguing narrative that explores why music and entertainment are so important to humanity. Taking cues from the electric atmosphere of Japanese idol concerts, the player experiences the fun of performing, with the goal of pumping up an audience on a spaceship.

According to data from Beauhurst, 76.9% of the active gaming companies in the UK have an all-male director team. As a female founder leading a Tranzfuser team of devs who are all from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the games industry, it can sometimes be hard to feel that you have “permission” to have entrepreneurial ambitions in this space. Being accepted into Tranzfuser not only provides us with the support and opportunities necessary to take our next steps in the industry, but also the confidence to make the games we want to make. We hope to use this opportunity to not only make an excellent game, but lay the foundations for a sustainable studio moving forward.
