The Bearly Awake team has been working together on Pixelated Reverie for around 6 months, thanks to the support of the University for the Creative Arts Farnham’s Incubator Studio. The team started as a group of graduates from The University for the Creative Arts, and since beginning this project, they have improved their skills and learnt how to manage projects of a larger scale. This team is comprised of talented individuals who work well together, supporting each other to create the best product possible.

Having known each other since University, the team understand each other well and can provide support and encouragement to make sure everyone is working hard whilst feeling comfortable. Together, they will provide high quality work and a creative passion for this project which they have already spent time developing, which will only increase in quality as development progresses.

About the project

Pixelated Reverie is a unique puzzle platformer that blends 2D and 3D gameplay into one connected world. The player must swap between 3D Third-Person gameplay to 2D Side-Scrolling platforming in order to solve mind-bending puzzles and travel further into a mysterious digital world. It will have a focus on narrative, telling the tale of Lilien McKavish – a young scientist searching for her missing father, and her companion Del – an AI searching for their purpose. Together, the two will explore the beautiful digital world, learning its dark secrets.

The game is planned to be released in four chapters on Steam, with chapter one currently being in development. Each chapter will have the player explore new areas, unlock new abilities and learn more about the world’s mysteries. The game is targeted towards puzzle game fans and those who are invested in compelling narratives, aiming to draw them back with each chapter.

Together, our team at Bearly Awake Games have worked passionately on Pixelated Reverie - bringing our vision to life. The game started as my Final Major Project at University, and once the team joined, the concept was deconstructed and reformed into Pixelated Reverie which greatly improved the project in every way - from gameplay, to art and narrative. Whilst this may have started as my project, it has grown into the creative voice of all the members of the group, and would not be the same without each member being as passionate for it as they are. We have all put in an incredible amount of hard work into this game, and we cannot wait to see both the game and our skills improve across the Tranzfuser period. Being accepted into Tranzfuser means the world to us, giving us confidence in our work and bringing us even closer as a team.
