Quick Q & A
If you could turn the clock back, would you do anything differently?
It’s hard to say since all the knowledge we have gained regarding what we should have done differently is the result of the exact process we had gone through during the competition. However, if we need to put a finger on one thing, it has to be the scope of the demo. Our game is a story-driven game with deduction-based gameplay and our main struggle was finding the ideal middle ground between telling a story that shows the potential of our storyteller skills and showcasing our mechanics within the relatively short timeframe of the demo. We had originally wanted a more complete story sequence but during the competition, we realized that we don’t have the resources to do that. We could have realized that immediately.
What made you want to take part in the competition?
We applied with a project whose narrative framework and art style were already established, and whose gameplay was loosely defined in terms of dynamics but not in terms of mechanics. Tranzfuser was our best chance to form an effective team, define and prototype the mechanics, and challenge our ideas in a professional environment in the hope of developing the project further full-time after the competition.
Why should the up-and-coming game dev talent of tomorrow apply to Tranzfuser 2021?
Tranzfuser is a wonderful chance to accomplish multiple achievements. First of all, the competition itself is a great opportunity to learn more about game development on a more professional level, and you can use the gained knowledge when you apply for a job or establish your own company. Second of all, Tranzfuser can help you to develop your passion project in the earliest stage of development which is a particularly hard period of the entire game development process.
What benefits did Tranzfuser bring to your game dev career?
Tranzfuser literally helped us to become a real team then establish our company where we can work on our passion project’s Vertical Slice full-time. We can’t be grateful enough for this.
What are you doing now?
At the moment, we’re working on the Vertical Slice of Hotel Arcanum, the project we won Tranzfuser 2020 with.
